A more thorough appreciation of the pathophysiology of psoriasis and the role of certain cell populations and cytokines will help clinicians better understand both the mechanisms of disease and the mechanisms of therapeutic intervention with biologic agents. As novel agents advance in clinical development, clinicians need updates on their mechanisms of action, safety and efficacy profiles, and where they fit into clinical practice.
