In this activity, the faculty shares relevant and important data regarding the indications and contraindications of available therapies for the treatment of IBD. Additionally, each faculty member provides perspectives on the optimal use of these agents.

A panel of experts was convened to provide their collective insights and interpretations of recently released data on a number of current topics relating to the treatment of patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Points of discussion include rapid virologic response and treatment duration decisions, the role of maintenance therapy, options for nonresponding/relapsing patients, and the status and use of new antiviral drugs. This activity presents the panel’s debate-style discussion of a range of key clinical questions and features information that is relevant, new, and framed in a meaningful context.

Given the constantly changing landscape of ulcerative colitis (UC) management, it is essential that clinicians be aware of the continually evolving data and controversies in this area so as to provide optimal care for patients with this lifelong, potentially debilitating disease. This activity is designed to highlight current issues in the treatment of UC.

This activity provides the latest clinical advances in the management of cancer-related bone complications and reviews the current knowledge of the pathophysiology involved in these complications. A discussion of new and emerging therapies is also featured.

Our evolving understanding of the role of new pathways and newly discovered cell populations involved in the pathophysiology of psoriasis offers the potential for novel drug targets and therapeutic agents. A more thorough appreciation of the pathophysiology of psoriasis and the role of certain cell populations and cytokines will help clinicians better understand both the mechanisms of disease and the mechanisms of therapeutic intervention with biologic agents. As novel agents advance in clinical development, clinicians need updates on their mechanisms of action, safety and efficacy profiles, and where they fit into clinical practice.

The purpose of this activity is to provide updated recommendations on the management of patients who have or are at risk for osteoporosis. Case-based scenarios are used to illustrate strategies for optimally managing different patients.
