Curatio CME Institute Receives Reaccreditation, Announces Several Staff Appointments
Exton, Pennsylvania – March 29, 2010 - Curatio CME Institute (www.curatiocme.com) today announced that it has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for four years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians.
To gain reaccreditation from the ACCME, Curatio demonstrated compliance with the ACCME’s updated criteria, released in September 2006. Curatio President Denise LaTemple, PhD, credits CME Director Derek Warnick with playing a pivotal role in leading the reaccreditation process. “Meeting the new criteria required demonstrating through extensive documentation that Curatio’s CME program contributes to measurable improvements in physician competence, performance, or patient outcomes. The reaccreditation process is a large undertaking, made even more complex by the demands of meeting the new criteria. Derek compiled and analyzed our outcomes data from the past 4 years to generate a comprehensive self-assessment that clearly documented our compliance.”
Curatio also announces the appointment of team members to key positions:
Denise LaTemple, PhD, has been named President of Curatio. Prior to this appointment, Dr. LaTemple served as Curatio’s Vice President of Scientific Services. She joined Huntsworth Health North America’s medical communications agency, ApotheCom, as a Senior Medical Director in 2002. Dr. LaTemple received a doctorate in microbiology & immunology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Steve Bender has been appointed Vice President of Strategic Development; he previously served as Director of Grant Development at The Chatham Institute in Chatham, New Jersey. He brings to Curatio eight years of medical education experience in cultivating partnerships to develop educational activities that have been delivered in a variety of unique formats. One of these CME activities utilizes medical claims data to measure the impact of physician participation in CME activities, the results of which will be published in an upcoming manuscript. Bender spent the first 18 years of his career in medical publishing and has held various account management roles at the McGraw-Hill Companies, Rodale Custom Publishing, and Bobit Business Media.
Daniel Duch, PhD, has joined Curatio as Medical Director. Dr. Duch also comes to Curatio from The Chatham Institute, where he was a medical director, leading the clinical content development team for CME programs and educational materials, including a multi-supported, multi-disciplinary national educational initiative designed to educate primary care clinicians in the management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Duch served for 10 years as an assistant professor for the Departments of Physiology and Anesthesiology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he was the principal investigator of a biomedical research laboratory, managing a team of postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and technicians. He was responsible for experimental research design and writing/publishing results, teaching, lecturing, authoring articles, and writing and receiving grants. Dr. Duch received a doctorate in physiology from the University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center.
